摘要: 即時多媒體的關鍵技術包括相當多的層面, 服器技術, 速網路技術皆是 。 本篇論文的研究主題, 即是在區域網路的環境下, X一個以個人 電腦為平台的即時視訊服務(video-on-demand; VOD)系統; 伺服器同 一時間內必須提供相當多的視訊節目,所以如何設p出高流通量的視訊伺 服器是個研究重點。b儲存裝置上的^取動作,往往是VOD系統輸出量的瓶 頸,所以如何將視訊/ 騔x存裝置上,並妥善安排這些資訊,是本論文 的設計重點。 }列作為儲存裝置,所以在I/O匯流排上,必須連接數個硬 苤A硬碟在傳送資料時必須透過匯流排,m奪,而使視訊伺A器輸出量降低 ,本論文中亦將提出一方法解決此問題。最後本論文亦比較分析了在VOD 系統中, Redundant Array of isk (RAID) 與獨立磁碟作為儲存裝置 ,系統資源使用及輸出量的比較。 The key technologies of real-time multimedia services includeany issues, such as communication protocol technology, serverechnology,and high-speed network technology etc. The main focusf this paper is to design a system architecture for video- on-emand and implement it under personal computer environment withthernet as underlying network. In a video server with multipleideo programs to be serviced simultaneously, how to design aigh throughput system is the main issue of this paper. The dataetrieval operation is often the bottleneck of a video server, son efficient data distribution scheme is the key point to beddressed. Our system uses disk array as the storage subsystem, so itust connect mutiple disks to a common bus, that usually causesus contention while transferring the data, and hence reducehe throughput of video server, therefore an algorithm foresolving bus contention will be proposed. At last, we compare the performance among multiplendependent disks, redundant array of independent disks, andingle large disk that includes the busy rate analysis ofystem resource for a video server system.
