個人電腦上物件導向資料庫之績效評估

Abstract

由於工商業發達，各類產品的競爭激烈，為了比較同類產品的功能，提供 同類產品的比較依據，因此有績效評估 (Benchmark)的產生。近來，物件 導向資料庫系統 (Object-Oriented Database Management System, OODBMS) 已成為下一代資料庫系統發展的新趨勢，所以物件導向資料庫系 統的績效評估格外引人注目。 目前在物件導向資料庫系統上，以 OO7 Benchmark 最為著名，但其測試環境侷限於工作站上。本論文所提出之 OO7pc Benchmark 是為了測試個人電腦上之物件導向資料庫系統而設計， 因此所定之規格以個人電腦上之物件導向資料庫系統產品的規格及限制為 考量因素。目前我們在 OO7pc Benchmark 上完成測試的產品有： ObjectPro/ODB version 2.0 及 ObjectStore version 1.2.4。測試結果 及說明則在論文的後半部提出，測試結果顯示 ObjectPro/ODB version 2.0在 20 種運算上有較優的表現，ObjectStore version 1.2.4 有 23 種運算的表現較佳。 The benchmark is used to test the funtions and performances of the same purpose products from different vendors. The results will be the purchase criteria of the products for uses. Recently, Object-Oriented Database Management System(OODBMS) have become a new approach of database management system. The benchmark in object-oriented database management system is then more important. Currently, the most well known benchmark for object-oriented database management system is OO7 Benchmark[4], which is confined to workstation environments. In this thesis, refering to the OO7, we propose the OO7pc Benchmark, which is an PC-based object-oriented database management system benchmark. The main architecture of OO7pc follows OO7 Benchmark. In order to test object-oriented database product developed in PC, the specifications of OO7pc are mainly restricted on PC's limitation. Finally, we construct OO7pc databases and execute the operations on ObjectPro/ODB and ObjectStore. Through detailed analysis, the tested results are explained and some suggestions are given.
