dc.description.abstractA new display mode (CCLC mode) which including a pair of closed polarizer and the conic micro-cell structure corresponding to each pixel was studied in this thesis. Each micro-cell has the axially symmetric orientation of liquid crystal molecules. We have prepared both reflective and transparent types CCLC samples, using white light souce to observe the characteristic of viewing angle. Moreover we mentioned about the construct of the samples and the set up of experiment. Then we discuss the result of our experiment. Accroding to the experiment, the CCLC mode possesses the properties of wide viewing angle, many gray level levels and no gray level inversion. The viewing angle of no gray level inversion is about 130 degrees in both of the horizontal and vertical viewing direction. We also found that the characteristic of viewing angle of our sample was not so axially symmetry as we expect. That is due to not only the influence of the polarizer, but also the orientation of liquid crastall molecules of CCLC cell was not axially symmetry. All mentioned above was discussed on this thesis. Finally we take a conclusion in the end of this thesis.zh_TW
