架構在全球資訊網上的多重資料整合機制

Abstract

現有的集中式資料庫系統相關的技術已大致發展成熱，而多重資料庫系統能夠有效整合多個資料庫，但相關的技術仍然不夠完備。網際網路上的應用日漸普遍，藉由結合網際網路與多重資料庫的技術，使其具備集中式資料庫的優點，似乎是未來可行的方向。 本論文提出一種全球資訊網與多重資料庫系統間的整合機制。在這個機制內，我們利用關聯式資料庫的特性，從中整理出整個系統內所有資料庫的網目知識，並藉由資料庫組織知識庫的方式，把不同的當地資料庫的網目資訊加以整合。有了這個整合機制，現存的多個關聯式資料庫系統的資料可以加以整合，並由此來達到部份分散式資料庫的功能。系統設計者不必自行處理不同資料庫之間的欄位網目的對應關系，也不必放棄現有的集中式資料庫內的資料，即可輕易地將多個資料庫系統內的資料加以整合並呈現給全球資訊網的使用者。 在實作方面，本篇論文以交通大學電機資訊學院資訊系統為例，將學院內各個系所及研究中心現有的教師資料庫及研究計劃資料進行整合，並實際建立一個整合多個資料庫的資訊系統雛形，且提供全球資訊網的介面環境供使用者使用。

In recent years, the number of web-based application systems integrating WWW and database technologies is increasing rapidly. In such systems, the databases are usually centralized. In this thesis, a web-based mechanism for integrating multidatabase systems is proposed. In order to integrate all local databases, the schema information of all local databases are integrated into a knowledge base by global-local schema mapping. With the mechanism proposed, we can easily build a connection between WWW and multidatabase system. Application designers can create a Web-DB system without local database schema information, and system administrators may also use the original local database and provide information for Internet access. To show the performance of our strategy, a prototype of information system, named Research Summary System, is implemented. In the prototype system, the databases of departments in college of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in National Chiao Tung university are integrated and the data including faculty information, publication list and project information are also provided.
