dc.description.abstract | 自從有電腦以來,鍵盤一直是主要的輸入裝置。大約在西元1983年時滑鼠隨著Apple推出Mac個人電腦而問世。1990年Windows 3.1的推出,使得滑鼠更加的普及。如今滑鼠在大多數的電腦上已經成為不可或缺的周邊設備。 筆和盤鍵的年代幾乎一樣久遠。以前筆被稱為"stylus",被一些應用程式用來輸入幾何座標,如CAD, geographics等應用程式。大約自1994年起,筆被改良並且用於手寫輸入。在一些電腦上,筆提供了另一種文字輸入的選擇。對於小型電腦而言,如PDA(個人助理)或掌上型電腦,筆是非常重要的。除了用於手寫辨識軟體外,廠商也提供一些驅動程式,使得筆也能有類似滑鼠的功能。可以用筆來單擊、雙擊和拖曳螢幕上的物件。但人們還是無法捨棄滑鼠。大致上,筆只用於手寫輸入,很少用來取代滑鼠當做座標輸入裝置。主要有兩個原因:(1)人們習慣使用滑鼠,不願再學習使用新的裝置;(2)廠商主要把焦點放在辨識軟體上,滑鼠方面的模擬尚未完美。 本篇論文的目標在於改良並且使得滑鼠的模擬軟體更加完美。我們研究了目前滑鼠筆的設計,並測試了各種方法來模擬滑鼠的功能,其中包括了左鍵單擊、右鍵單擊,雙擊,和拖曳。我們用以下兩個標準來評估我們的設計:(1)手和手指的舒適性,(2)功能的可靠度。我們堅信我們在設計上已經有了十分卓著的改進,使得筆成為更有吸引力的新產品來取代滑鼠。 | zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | Keyboard has been the primary input device for the computer since as early as anyone can remember. Mouse entered the scene around 1983 when Apple introduce Mac computer. Mouse became more and more popular since the advent of Windows 3.1 in 1990. Mouse is now an indispensible device on most computers. Pen is almost as old as keyboard. It used to be called stylus, and was used to input geometric coordinates in applications like CAD, geographics, etc.. Since around 1994, pen has been improved to facilitate handwriting. On some computers, pen provides another option for text input. Pen is particularly important on small computers like organizer or PDA. In addition to character recognition software, vendors do provide drivers to make pen augmented with mouse-like functions. One can use pen to click, double-click, drag items on the screen. But people simply cannot let go their mouse. Pen is in general only used for handwriting, seldom used as a pointing device in place of mouse. There are two reasons: (1) people are used to mouse, reluctant to learn to use a new device; (2) vendors have concentrated mainly on the recognition software, the mouse emulation software has not been perfected. The goal of this thesis is to improve and perfect the mouse emulation software. We study current design of pen-mouse utility. We test various ways to emulate mouse functions, including left click, right click, double click, drag. We evaluate our design with two criteria: (1) ease of hand and finger manipulation,(2) reliability. We believe we have very much improved the design, making pen more attractive as a novelty for the replacement of mouse. | en_US |
