摘要: 最近几年,网际网路在大小和应用范围上有着相当大的程度上的成长,也因此一直有新的通讯协定和演算法则的发展以符合网际网路的需求。而企业建构‘虚拟私人网路’(Virtual Private Network; VPN)来增进企业本身运作绩效的趋势就要使用网际网路。虚拟私人网路流量能够分成二部分:企业内网路流量和网际网路流量。许多因素将会影响虚拟私人网路流量的绩效。在现实生活中,要安装一个虚拟私人网路和测量它的绩效是困难的。在我们的研究,我们设置一个虚拟私人网路流量模拟器(NS-2)来模拟虚拟私人网路流量在指数分配和伯拉图分配之下的操作。本研究调查因素包括排队法则,封包大小,伫列长度,网际网路流量比率和网际网路链接频宽。这五因素将对虚拟私人网路流量绩效有不同的冲击。模拟结果可以让网路管理者弹性的规划架设在网际网路上的虚拟私人网路使其更有效的支援企业的操作。再者,我们概述各主要的模拟参数对虚拟私人网路的敏感度。
In recent years, the Internet has grown significantly in size and scope, and as a result new protocols and algorithms are being developed to meet changing operational requirements in the Internet. The trend for a business to implement its VPN (Virtual Private Network) to enhance the efficiency of a business operations definitely will use the Internet. VPN traffic can be divided into two components: Intranet traffic and Internet traffic. Many factors will affect VPN traffic performance. It is difficult to install a VPN and measure its performance in a real life. In our research, we setup a VPN traffic simulator with NS-2 network simulator to simulate VPN traffic operations under Exponential and Pareto distribution. Factors under investigation in this research include queuing discipline, packet size, queue length, Internet traffic ratio and Internet link bandwidth. These five factors will have different degrees of impact on VPN traffic performance. Simulation results show some insight of deploying VPN over the Internet that may give IT manager ideas of planning their networking infrastructure in supporting its business operations. Moreover, we summarize the sensitivity of each major simulation parameters in VPN traffic performance.
