dc.description.abstractWith rapid growth of the current data communication and Internet, broad-band medium access adn fast oacket transmission, switching and reception will be the critical issues in the development of the next generation internet; to provide a fast packet transmission, and physical layer, including an optical layer and an electrical layer, tends towards being a burst-mode transmission system. In my research, I discuss the theory and the design an optical burst-mode receivers applied in the burst-mode transmission.en_US
