摘要: 地方記者最大的工作特性是長時間在組織以外的地方工作,相較於在媒體總部工作的記者或是一般在組織中工作的成員來說,在時間空間上、在可參考的與文與非語文線索上,以及溝通媒介使用的考量上,都相對的較為缺乏,因此,本研究旨在探討地方記者與組織溝通媒介之運用,以桃竹苗區電視台地方記者與報社地方記者為研究對象,深入探討地方記者運用溝通媒介的情形,以及選擇使用的原因,以進一步了解地方記者與媒體組織之間的溝通情形。本研究由媒介豐富理論與社會影響模式的觀點來看地方記者溝通媒介之運用,並探討其選擇使用之原因。研究方法採深度訪談的方式,訪談十二為電視台駐桃竹苗區之地方記者(包含無線電視台與有線電視台),與十四位桃竹苗區之報社地方記者,共二十六人。 根據本研究主要研究目的,希望可以了解有關地方記者運用溝通媒介的類型,研究發現,報社與電視台地方記者在溝通媒介的選擇上,深受記者工作特性的影響,因此在新聞工作相關之溝通內容上,主要都是以電話溝通為主。而在其他的溝通媒介的運用,則會受到媒介象徵意義所影響,特別是在電腦中介溝通媒介的使用上,同時,地方記者平日在組織溝通時經常搭配使用多種溝通媒介,傳統溝通媒介與電腦中介溝通媒介之間為相輔相成。最後,由於同樣從事地方新聞工作,報社與電視台地方記者在溝通媒介的考量與選擇上差異並不大。
The media richness model of computer mediate communication states that media choices are determined by task characteristics, and an effective manager will choose a medium whose richness matches the complexity of the task. However, the social influence model of computer mediate communication theories suggests that media choices in organizations are not only affected by the characteristics of a task, but also influenced by social influences of an organization including the attitudes and opinions of coworkers and supervisors. Using the two models of computer mediated communication, this study examined the relationship between task characteristics and media choices in news organizations. Intensive interviews were conducted on 26 local journalists with 12 of them from television stations and 14 from newspaper organizations. Data analysis shows that both task characteristics and organizational cultures were important factors in determining the selection of a medium. More findings were discussed in the paper.
