Surface alignment for FLCs was one of largest issue for real application in display. In this study, two novel FGLC materials were used as chiral dopants and evaluated their electrooptical properties. To suppressed defects and multi-domains occurring in traditionally polyimide-coated cells, hybrid cells coated with poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyimide(PI) were used to improve the alignment issue. As a result, better alignment, larger mono-domain area were achieved in hybrid cells than pre-made cells, which providing a potential application in flat panel displays.en_US
