As to steel structures, in the past, they were considered safe with fire protection materials. However, after the fire disaster of Dong-Ke Building, the fire safety issue is attracting the attention of government and researchers. In addition, the event of 911 in New York further demonstrated the vulnerability of steel structures. Therefore, ABRI is working with CIB W14 to study the effect of high temperature on steel buildings and initiated a series of studies to implement the issue. This project is one of it and the main goals are as follows. 1. To study the effect of loading on the fire rating of beam under fire. 2. To study the effect the thickness of fire proof material on the loaded beam. 3. To establish an analytical method to model the behavior of beam under fire. 4. The rating criteria for official review CNS will be suggested to change if the result is found that the current standard is unsafe. A similar test on steel columns will be also suggested for future study. |
