An evaluation for nation wide police information system (NWPIS)

Abstract

During the last two decades, computer network has been getting progress, Internet is a typical case. Intranet and Extranet are inherited from the applications of Internet. Most traditional databases migrated from MIS and/or transplanted to Intra/Extranet. Firewall, Proxy server are proposed to protect those conventional databases and web server,... etc. Open architecture and computer communication give good cooperation between the hosts and the users. But, it leaves information for hackers to find out the path to attack our hosts, and to destroy or to modify the data on the hosts. E-mail, Talk, and data on databases will be the goal to be protected. We try to propose a security system to protect the information on NWPIS. Because it offers 50 information systems online about police project which includes criminal record, vehicle information, ...etc. NWPIS will be migrated to be the structure of Intranet during the police stations of the whole nation. And;it will encounter the problems we mentioned above. In this research, most of the security issues will be discussed and/or evaluated in our system to secure the NWPIS in Intranet.
