With a name borrowed from military and aerospace industry practices, war room is now a specific term used in business intelligence as a decision-making site with many digital dashboards and related facilities. In this thesis, a war room connecting to the data center of the flower supply chains in Taiwan has been designed. Since the war room located at NCTU needs to manipulate a huge volume of data within a limited space, there exist two major challenges in the design process. One is how to plan the physical facilities without interfering with the operators’ activities. The other is how to reduce the cognitive overload phenomenon whenever a lot of data emerge at the same time. Essentially the former problem is solved under ergonomic principles. The latter problem is reduced by the classification of digital dashboards and key performance indices. Both involve many engineering details. Also several operational cases are studied for showing the feasibility of this approach.
