Currently, distributed hypermedia systems are extremely popular. This is because they have the following three important advantages. (1) using hypertext's browsing model; (2) displaying of multimedia document; (3) accessing all information connected to the Internet. Among these distributed hypermedia systems, WWW (World-Wide Wed) is the most important and popular one. Although WWW has several nice browsing tools, there have been lack of good authoring tools supporting complete features. There are still some WWW features which cannot supported by current authoring system in the WYSIWYG way (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get). For example, forms, tables etc. In this thesis, we have developed an WYSIWYG authoring tool that enables users to create WWW documents directly. The tool*s features are very similar to a general text processor. Currently, the tool supports main features of HTML 3.0, e.g. tables, forms and maths. Most authoring tools are building in a monolithic fasion. This is, they deal with those predefined format only. When a new feature in the formats added, the tools must be upgraded to recognize the new situation. According to previous experience, we propose a new extensible authoring model that allows an authoring tool to deal with a new feature dynamically.
