dc.description.abstract在乙太网路中,要将资料封包传送至接收端,路由器是不可或缺的。一个
要传送到远端 (remote)网路的封包,必须由路由器转换标头
来指定下一级转送路由器的MAC(media access control)
位址,并且将封包正确的由路由器输入埠送至对应的输出埠。而交换式的
结构(switching fabric)能减低乙太网路竞争特性所引起的高碰撞率(
collision probability),并 提高系统效能。
本篇论文主要是设计一个交换式的乙太路由器架构,针对不定长度的封包
作记忆体管 理,以硬体的方式作MAC位址的转换。交换机的
部分是属于输出暂存的交换机,所有输 出入埠分享一个分
时多工的汇流排,所有的封包储存在一块共享的记忆体,来提高记忆
体使用效率,由于所有的封包都事先经过切割成固定长度的资料片段,所以
能提供 cut-through及EPD(early packet
discarding)的功能。
In Ethernet, to transmit packets to received end host in
remote LAN, a Router is unavoidable. Router can
translate header to indicate the next redirect Router's MAC
address, and transport packet from its input port to its
desired output ports. Switching fabric can decrease collision
probability due to Ethernet contention characteristic, and boots
system performance. This
thesis focus on designing a Ethernet Router on switching fabric,
variable length packet buffer management, and MAC address
exchanging with hardware. This output-queue switch has a shared
memory to increase memory usage efficiency. Besides, because all
packets segment into fixed length blocks, it can
provide cut-through and EPD(early packet discarding).
