我國個人電腦用薄膜液晶顯示器產業競爭優勢探討

Abstract

從一九九八年起，我國華映、達□、奇美、聯友、瀚宇、廣輝六家廠商分別與日本廠商進行技術合作，投入大尺寸薄膜液晶顯示器面板的生產，開啟了台灣進入大尺寸平面顯示器的時代。面對每年一億台以上的桌上型個人電腦監視器及兩千七百萬台筆記型電腦液晶顯示面板的市場機會，卻也同時有來自日本及韓國的競爭威脅，我國大尺寸薄膜液晶顯示器面板產業的因應策略為何? 綜觀過去四十年來我國經濟發展的歷史，先後取得近百項產品外銷王國的美譽。但是近年來我國飽受經濟不景氣打擊，產業加速外移，不但連自行車、手工具機、螺絲等許多維持二十年以上世界第一的產業都岌岌不保，連監視器、個人電腦、光碟機等登上世界頂峰不到五年的高科技產業都迅速褪色。二OO一工業局計畫推動「雙兆計畫」，希望在五、六年內使我國的半導體和平面顯示器兩個產業的產值都超過一兆元，確保我國製造業的最後一線希望。我國政府該如何與產業聯手打贏這場仗呢? 本研究將依照Michel E. Portor 所提出的鑽石理論，深入探討我國個人電腦用薄膜液晶顯示器產業現況，並提出建議。

Since 1998, Taiwan companies CPT, ADT, CMO, Unipac, Hanstar and Quanta started to have technological cooperation with Japanese companies individually to join large size TFT LCD display panel industry. These six firms led Taiwan into a large size TFT LCD display era. Facing the market requirement of over a hundred million desktop PC monitors and 27 million notebook’s display panels each year, also the threat from Japan and Korea competitors, what would be the competitive strategies of Taiwan TFT LCD industry? To watch back the economic history over 40 years, Taiwan earned a great reputation of export kingdom. However, Taiwan is beat by depression recently, many industries move out rapidly. Not only bicycle, CNC , screw . . . .etc. which Taiwan has remained world number 1 over 20 years, even some high-tech industry, such as monitor, personal PC and CD-ROM, which reached the top of the world less than 5 year all lose their glory rapidly. In 2002, Industrial Development Bureau Ministry of Economic Affairs address “Two trillion, twin star office” plan, willing to driver the output value of both semi-conductor and platform display up to over a trillion NTD to secure the last hope of Taiwan manufacturing. How should Taiwan government and industry work together to win this battle? This thesis will follow the “ Diamond Theory” by Michel E. Portor to deeply confer on the current circumstances of Taiwan personal PC monitor and provide suggestions.
