摘要: 类纸张(paper-like or E-paper)的软性显示器可一部份取代纸张印刷工作,提高资讯传递的便利性并节省
印刷成本,被视为最具机会,为人类开启第三波显示器革命的新趋势。应用于类纸式的软性显示器上
的显示介质与机制种类相当多,本计划所研究的显色物理机制模型、色彩特性化与显示器影像品质评
估将以全彩型微杯型电泳显示器为主。电泳显示器的带电微粒受基板电场驱动,可藉由白色微粒在微
杯中的位置控制光于电泳液行走的路径长度,改变染料的光学密度进而控制不同颜色信号的灰阶。研
究课题包括:(a) 建立微杯型电泳显示器(Electrophoretic Display, EPD)混色模型(b) 根据不同的微粒
颜色,染料浓度与电极设计,量测电子纸的反射频谱,将单色(mono color)及全彩(full color)电子纸之
色彩特性化(c) 并建立以反射率、白度、对比彩度等各种参数为权重之电子纸品质评估,以提供未来
电子纸在材料、结构制作与画素驱动时的参数设计。
A paper-like-display is investigated as the next generation medium which simultaneously owns features of
both of hard-copy and soft-copy. In this project, we will address the color performance and mechanism of
Electrophoretic Display (EPD) with microcup configuration. The black-white or color image can be
displayed by controlling the movement of charged particle in dye-based insulating liquid when the polarity
of voltage was applied to the driving electrodes. This project includes the following subjects: (a) color model
of an EPD by using additive and complex subtractive mixing law (b) characterization of EPD tone
reproduction with different particle, liquid and electrode combinations (c) assessing display quality based on
various parameters including reflectance, whiteness, contrast and colorfulness.
