The book compiles the articles presnted on the 2017 International Symposium of Hakka Studies held in the Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center with the collaboration with the College of Hakka Culture, National Chiao Tung University and National Museum of Ethnology Japan on December 16-17 2017. The author summarizes the articles into five themes: 1. Hakka and museums: proposal for the development of Hakka museums; 2. Typology of Hakka museums in the world and their cultural representation; 3. Topics on Taiwan Hakka museums: cultural parks and museums; 4. Popular participation of Hakka museums; and 5. Hakka studies: Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. The book represents the forms and variations of Hakka museums on their own ethnicities and cultural identities. According to the recent development of ethnological museums in the world, we anticipate a full contextualization of Hakka museums within larger societies to enhance an overall understanding of Hakka culture and ethnicity.
