The global handset market has matured and reached its growth limit, in order to extend product life cycle and drive the handset market growth, all the handset makers are trying their best to upgrade all kinds of video and audio spec and they are putting more emphasis on these value added features to increase replacement rate. Consumers have shown great interest in taking pictures by high resolution camera phones. This thesis utilizes growth curve, patent analysis and scenario analysis model of technology forecast method to predict the future technology and market size of Auto Focus camera module. According to the industrial report, the Auto Focus camera module market has continued to grow in past years. In order to increase the competitive strength, all the component vendors of entire camera module supply chain are doing huge investment in facility and manpower to improve production capacity and product quality. Besides high volume handset market, Auto Focus camera module also has potential demand in other high resolution image devices, such as webcam, automotive tracking system, surveillance system. Taiwanese camera module makers may leverage alliance strategy and technology innovation to improve own capabilities and increase market share.
