Abstract

With the advancement of technology,broadcasting using writing and text cannot satisfy people's need. Voice, imageand video have become the bow and arrow in the knowledge-communication world. In the knowledge-overflow century, to transmit desired media is not the onlyone important thing; how to integrate the media to present your thinking isanother one. The first step is to retrieve the media from thousands. Then youmust identify the temporal and spatial relation between retrieved media. Basedon the two goals, a powerful tool can help an author accomplish the task ofmultimedia editing. In this thesis, we construct an interactive visual authoring tool system. Thissystem provides an easy way for authors to retrieve media and to identify therelation between media. We can browse the media classes through the inheritancehierarchy, or browse the media objects through the aggregation relation inretrieving mode. We can also query the media by example in a tree view mode. Inauthoring mode, we provide an event driven model to describe the temporalrelation, and a way to describe the spatial relation. We call an integratedmedium object a complex media. We store each object including single medium andcomplex media in an Object- Oriented Multimedia Database.
