摘要: 液晶透鏡一直以來都是被動式驅動結構,亦即沒有半導體層當作主動式的閘極(Gate) 來當作開關的作用,被動式結構在單一透鏡元件時並不會受到限制,然而一但需要陣列 式透鏡應用時就會有相當多的侷限;因此本計晝主要目的是開發[主動式液晶透鏡陣列] 結構,並將其應用於3D立體顯示以及3D立體影像擷取兩大方面。 主動式液晶透鏡陣列將使用半導體層同時當作閘極與分壓元件,在閘極電壓驅動 時,元件導通後會將電荷送至液晶透鏡之中心電極,在閘極關閉時,該半導體層因其高 阻抗特性,可成為達到分壓的效果,使透鏡的電場分布呈現漸變的透鏡效果。 因為是主動式選擇的透鏡陣列,將其製作成柱狀透鏡陣列應用於3D顯示技術時, 便可同時達到2D/3D切換、3D旋轉切換、以及區域化3D顯示等功能;另外,當作成 環狀透鏡陣列時,也可進一步應用於3D立體影像擷取,將液晶透鏡陣列與相機鏡頭結 合,可區域化獨立控制各個透鏡焦距,並聚焦在不同在深度上,藉由後續的影像處理可 簡單的擷取出拍攝影像的深度資訊,並可輕易的達到2D/3D影像擷取的切換;而除了一 般相機應用外,更可應用於微鏡頭(如:立體内視鏡)上來擷取立體深度資訊。 因此,主動式液晶透鏡陣列不但在學術上是首度被提出的液晶透鏡結構,其未來亦 有機會可提供更多的實際應用價值。
Liquid crystal lens is still a “passive: device in current researches, which means it doesn’t have a semiconductor layer as an active Gate. A passive component can fit the application for single element, however, it will be limited when applied on array system. Therefore, the main object of this project is to develop “Active Liquid Crystal Lens Array”,and apply the array structure for 3D auto-stereoscopic display and 3D depth capturing. The active LC array will utilize a semiconductor layer as gate and voltage sharing layer. When gate-on, it will be conducted to power-on the central electrode of LC lens. When Gate-off, the semiconductor layer will be perform as a high resistance layer to make the electric field as gradient distributions. Finally, a LC lens can be formed. Due to the array is active driving, when it combine with 3D display with lenticular shape. The 3D display can be 2D/3D switchable, 3D rotatable, and 3D localizable. Additionally, when designing as circular lens array, it can be put in front of a camera to have 3D depth and image capturing function. Therefore, the active liquid crystal lens array is not only the first LC-lens structure had been ever proposed, but also prospect many future applications.
